Recently, I’ve been opening up my diary for non-wedding related photography…finding creativity in every way possible. Considering I began my photography career shooting family, it only made sense to look at building a new portfolio for those special occasion when I’m asked to photograph something intimate like a family session.
I’m usually a naturalist when it comes to photographing people. They feel more confident when shot in their natural space, in the outside air or the comfort of their furniture and art. So when I was challenged to photograph 12 families on one day in a self made studio space, you could say I was a little nervous…especially with all the tiny hands and feet to entertain.
When I was commissioned by Australian brand JS Health, I knew I was in good hands and we all had a beautiful day. Some extremely special moments.
I expected every session to be the same, however the relationship between parent and child really shone through and dictated the path the shoot went, creating raw moments for each family.
What a special day to be given the opportunity to see these precious interactions.
Happy Mother’s Day.
