A Valentine’s Day Wedding in the High Country – Love, Laughter, and Mustangs
I flew into Queenstown for a glorious 8 days and to photograph two weddings, both planned to perfect ion by Alexandra Kate Creative. Queenstown has it all, scenery, exhilarating sports, food, COFFEE, and the incredible backdrops for a ceremony.
Queenstown’s high country set the stage for a truly beautiful wedding on Valentine’s Day. As locals gathered to celebrate the union of two souls deeply connected to this stunning landscape, the day unfolded with romance, adventure, and heartfelt moments.
One of the most unforgettable highlights came courtesy of the best man, who gifted the couple an extraordinary fleet of classic Mustangs to use for the day. The sight of these powerful machines weaving their way through the rugged beauty of the high country added an air of timeless elegance and a touch of adrenaline to the occasion.
As the sun dipped behind the jagged peaks, I had the pleasure of capturing their golden-hour sunset session. The couple, bathed in the soft, warm glow of the evening, stood hand-in-hand against the breathtaking backdrop of Queenstown’s high country. The sheer joy and intimacy of the moment made for some of the most stunning images of the day.
No celebration is complete without a little champagne, and this one did not disappoint. With a lively pop and a burst of effervescent excitement, the newlyweds kicked off the evening’s festivities with a spectacular champagne spray, setting the tone for a night filled with laughter and cheer.
The reception embraced a relaxed dining experience, allowing guests to savor locally sourced delights while soaking in the crisp mountain air. With speeches held outdoors under a canopy of parasols and the warm glow of the sun, the evening was infused with sentiment, humor, and heartfelt words from loved ones.
Lawn games added a playful touch to the celebration, bringing out the competitive spirit of guests young and old. Laughter echoed across the high country as guests engaged in friendly rivalries, further solidifying the joyous and laid-back atmosphere.
Before the dance floor came alive, we gathered everyone for a grand group photo—a beautiful keepsake capturing the love and energy of the entire wedding party before the music and movement took over.
As the night progressed, the celebrations turned into a lively dance under the open sky, with guests twirling and embracing under the starlit heavens. Love was in the air—quite literally—on this Valentine’s Day wedding, making it an affair to remember.
